Medical Description

Nexatan M Tablets are a combination medicine used to relieve menstrual pain and reduce heavy menstrual bleeding during periods. It contains tranexamic acid, which helps prevent blood clots from breaking down too quickly, and mefenamic acid, an anti-inflammatory pain reliever that eases cramping. Together, these ingredients can reduce excessive bleeding and pain linked with menstrual cramps. Nexatan tablets are taken by mouth with or after food according to the treatment plan prescribed by a doctor. The combination is used only for menstrual symptoms that have been assessed.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine, do not take it. Do not use Nexatan tablets if you have active blood clots, an active stomach ulcer or severe kidney disease, or if anti-inflammatory pain medicines have caused a serious allergic reaction. Tell your doctor if you have severe liver disease or unexplained bleeding before use.

Side effects

How does this medicine work?

Tranexamic acid helps prevent blood clots in the womb lining from breaking down too quickly, which can reduce heavy period bleeding. Mefenamic acid lowers the production of chemical signals that contribute to menstrual pain and inflammation, easing cramps and discomfort.

Some medicines can affect the way Nexatan tablets work. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, mention blood thinners or antiplatelet medicines, hormonal contraceptives, other anti-inflammatory pain medicines, medicines that affect kidney function and treatments for seizures. Blood thinners and other anti-inflammatory pain medicines can increase bleeding risk, while hormonal contraceptives used with tranexamic acid may increase clot risk.
