Medical Description

New Dermiflox cream contains a combination of Clobetasol, Clotrimazole, Gentamicin, Iodochlorhydroxyquinoline and Tolnaftate. It is used to treat a wide variety of skin infections and inflammation. It helps in relieving symptoms such as swelling, redness, itching. Do not use this medicine to treat any other skin conditions than those prescribed by your doctor. It is meant only for external application and should be applied exactly as recommended by your doctor. You may experience some application site reactions as side effects, but they normally fade away with time. But if you feel the side effects persist or your condition worsens, you should contact your doctor immediately. Before using New Dermiflox cream, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of New Dermiflox cream.

Overdose

Missed a Dose

How Does It Work?

  • New Dermiflox cream works by the combined action of its components.
  • Clobetasol is a steroid, which works by blocking the production of certain chemical substances in the body (prostaglandins) which cause itching, swelling and redness.
  • Gentamicin is an antibiotic and it works by inhibiting the growth and multiplication of bacteria causing infection.
  • Tolnaftate works by stopping the growth of fungi that cause skin infections.
  • Clotrimazole works by interfering with the cell membranes of fungi, thus stopping their growth and eventually causing its death.
  • Iodochlorhydroxyquinoline (also called Clioquinol) reduces skin infections caused by bacteria. It inhibits certain enzymes involved in DNA synthesis of bacteria resulting in the death of bacteria. It is also effective against some fungal skin infections.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • New Dermiflox cream is applied externally on the skin, thus it is less likely to interact with other medicines taken orally. However, it may interact with other topically applied cream, lotion and gel. Discuss with your doctor if you are already on another topical gel or cream.
  • This medicine should be used with caution along with ritonavir (used in HIV infection) and itraconazole (used to treat fungal infections), as it may increase the risk of having side effects.
