Medical Description

Mirtaz Tablets belong to the category of medications called antidepressants. They affect our central nervous system. They help balance certain chemicals in our nervous system, responsible for depression. They aim to relieve the symptoms of major depression and restore the normal social behaviour of a person. Mirtazapine is the chief ingredient of Mirtaz Tablets. It belongs to the class of atypical antidepressants. It is an H1 blocker and quite sedative but not antidopaminergic or anticholinergic. It can cause increased appetite along with the gain of weight. It has been categorised as a noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressant. Mirtaz Tablets should not be used for children below 18 years. Suicidal tendencies and sudden mood changes may appear after taking this medicine; in that case, the caregivers should observe any mood fluctuations and report to the doctor immediately. If the patient wants to discontinue using Mirtaz Tablets, consult your doctor immediately before doing it. A prescription of Mirtaz Tablets by a well-trained physician is mandatory, and those should strictly not be taken of our own. Any physical activity requiring strenuous work should be avoided after taking Mirtaz Tablets as dizziness is one of the common symptoms along with sleepiness; thus, it can cause injury to a person. Rest is recommended after ingesting this medication.

Pregnancy

Breast Feeding

Driving

No, it is not recommended to drive after taking mirtaz tablets. This medication can cause symptoms like drowsiness which may affect the coordinating ability of an individual. Thus it is not advised to drive any vehicle or machine after taking mirtaz tablets.

Alcohol

No, it is not recommended to do so. Alcohol may reduce the effectiveness of mirtaz tablets, and consuming it along with alcohol may lead to loss of the coordinating ability of our mind and muscles to concentrate or focus on things. Thus it is firmly not advised to avoid alcohol while taking this medication.

Mirtaz tablets are swallowed as a whole and can be taken on an empty stomach.

It should always be stored in an airtight container so that it remains away from light, heat and moisture. It should be kept away from the reach of minors and pets. Mode of action is based on the action of Mirtaz Tablets to maintain a balance between certain chemicals in our nervous system known as neurotransmitters. It acts upon two chemicals, namely noradrenaline and serotonin. Mirtaz Tablets increases their levels in the nerve cells of our body; as a result, the symptoms of depression which includes the feeling of sadness, sleeplessness, irritability and loss of interest in hobbies, get reduced, and the mind gets relaxed; as a result, the quality improves in such individuals. Dosage and duration vary from individual to individual, and it depends upon the severity of symptoms. It should be taken in amount as prescribed by your doctor. It also helps patients to cope with insomnia. You should keep using this medication even after feeling well, as the doctor will gradually decrease the dose.

Interactions with other medicines

Benzodiazepines may result in depression of the central nervous system
Aceclofenac may increase the blood pressure
Acemetacin may increase the blood pressure
Alectinib may reduce metabolism when combined with mirtaz

It can take about 1-4 weeks before you notice the effects of Mirtaz Tablets. However, if you want to discontinue its use, consult your doctor first. It should be done slowly over four weeks by decreasing the dose amount under the guidance of a doctor.

The best time to take mirtaz tablets is right before bedtime. Drowsiness and dizziness are the common symptoms of this medication. Thus proper rest is advised after you take mirtaz tablets.
