Melatrit S Ing injection is an antimalarial medicine used to treat malaria, an infection caused by parasites transmitted by mosquitoes. It contains artesunate, which is converted in the body to an active substance that damages malaria parasites in the blood. The injection is given by a doctor or nurse when injectable treatment is needed, and it does not prevent malaria. Further antimalarial treatment and follow-up may be needed, especially when the illness is severe or oral treatment is not possible.

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine, do not receive it. Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, unusual blood counts or a previous reaction to antimalarial treatment. It should be used only for malaria under medical supervision and not for prevention or another condition.

Side effects

  • Headache: Artesunate treatment or the malaria infection may cause head pain. Tell the treating team if it is severe, sudden or associated with confusion.
