Meftal-P tablet is an analgesic medicine. It is used to provide relief from pain and inflammation of joints, bones and post-surgery. This medicine also reduces abdominal cramps during menses. Meftal-
P tablet contains mefenamic acid as its active ingredient. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medicine. Take this medicine as suggested by the doctor and in the dose and duration prescribed. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history. This medicine should not be used for the relief of pain after bypass surgery of the heart and in pregnant women during the third trimester.

- Meftal-P tablet is used for pain relief such as pain related to joints, toothache, injury and muscle pain.
- It is also useful in relieving pain and cramps during the menstrual cycle.
Contraindications of Meftal P Dt 100 MG
- If you are allergic to mefenamic acid or any of the ingredients of Meftal-P tablet.
- If you have inflammatory bowel disease or ulcers in the stomach or intestine.
- If you have or had intestinal bleeding or stomach ulcers with or without the use of painkillers.
- If your heart, liver, or kidneys are not working properly or you have any health condition related to these organs.
- If you have a history of allergic reactions like breathing problems and skin allergies upon using painkillers like aspirin or ibuprofen.

- You experience stomach pain, bleeding vomiting or black colored stools.
- You develop skin allergies like skin rashes, itching, papules, blisters.
- You are suffering from an autoimmune disorder called systemic lupus erythematosus.

- You are a woman trying to conceive or taking any treatment for it.

- Take this medicine as a whole with a sufficient amount of water.
- Take the medicine as instructed by your doctor and don't change doses of this medicine without consulting the doctor.
Interactions of Meftal P Dt 100 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Meftal-P tablet works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Meftal-P tablet may increase the effect of oral blood thinners like warfarin.
- Medicines containing lithium used to treat mental disorders if taken along can lead to lithium toxicity.
- Concomitant use of other painkillers is not advised as it can increase the side effects of this medicine.
- Medicines such as steroids and antidepressants should not be used simultaneously as there is an increased risk of stomach and intestinal bleeding.
- You may experience fits upon concomitant use of antibiotics like norfloxacin, ofloxacin, and ciprofloxacin with this medicine.
- There should be a minimum gap of 10-12 days between the use of mifepristone and this medicine as it can reduce the effect of mifepristone.
- Medicines like digoxin used for treating heart failure should not be used together as Meftal-P tablet can induce heart failure and reduce the effectiveness of heart failure medicines.
- Medicines like methotrexate, ciclosporin, tacrolimus, and some blood pressure reducing medicines (furosemide) increase the risk of kidney damage when taken with this medicine.
- Other medicines like probenecid, zidovudine, and oral anti-diabetic medicines should be used cautiously.
