Medical Description

Locort is used to relieve itching and inflammation in some skin conditions. Its active ingredient is hydrocortisone.

Uses

Itchy and inflamed skin conditions

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine or its other ingredients, do not use it. Do not apply it in the eyes, on untreated skin infections or for diaper rash unless a doctor advises it. Tell your doctor if the skin is broken, thinning, or has acne or rosacea.

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or could become pregnant. Use hydrocortisone only as advised, especially over large areas or under a dressing.

Breast Feeding

Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Do not apply it to the breast immediately before feeding unless your doctor advises it.

Driving

Topical hydrocortisone is not expected to affect driving. Do not drive if a severe reaction makes you unwell.

Alcohol

No specific alcohol interaction is expected with topical use, but ask your doctor if you have concerns.

Directions for Use

For external use only, apply on healthy skin free from cuts and wounds. Wash your hands before and after use, keep it away from the eyes and do not cover the area unless your doctor advises it.

Storage and disposal

Store in the original container away from heat and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children. Dispose of unused medicine as advised by a pharmacist.

Overdose

Applying too much or for too long may thin the skin or allow more steroid to enter the body. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you miss an application, apply it when you remember unless the next application is due soon. Skip it when the next application is due and do not apply extra. If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
