Description
Lobazam MD is an anti-epileptic (controls seizures or fits) that belongs to a group of medicines called Benzodiazepines. It is chemically composed of Clobazam. It is used to control seizures in parti
al seizures, secondary generalised tonic-clonic seizures, as well as in absence seizures. It relieves anxiety and produces a state of mild sedation. Anxiety is an unpleasant emotional state associated with discomfort and uneasiness. Tablet Lobazam should only be started by your doctor. Tablet Lobazam should be taken orally at the same time daily. The common side effects of the medicine are sedation, increased appetite, weight gain, dizziness and psychomotor skill impairment. Inform your doctor if you are a pregnant female or a nursing mother.

- Used to control seizures as an adjuvant(add on therapy) to other anti-epileptics when monotherapy is inadequate in generalised seizures, absence seizures, partial seizures and refractory seizures.

Pregnancy

Can I take Lobazam during pregnancy?

Lobazam is unsafe in pregnancy. Always inform your doctor if you are a pregnant female. Limited studies and research have shown that it increases the risk of birth defects or anomalies in your baby (cleft lip and cleft palate). The medicine may affect the heart rate of the developing baby.
Breast Feeding

Can I take Lobazam when I am breastfeeding?

Lobazam is unsafe to use if you are a nursing mother. Lobazam may get transferred into the milk. It might make your infant lethargic and induce excessive sleepiness. Driving

Other General Warnings
Talk to your doctor if
- You have been taking medication for a long time. Lobazam has a risk of abuse and addiction, hence take the minimum dose possible and only for the specified duration, as advised by your doctor.
- You experience any of the serious side effects like severe drowsiness, dizziness or shallow breathing or skin blistering, call for medical help immediately.
- You want to stop the medication. Suddenly stopping the medicine is potentially fatal. The medicine has to be reduced gradually under the guidance of your doctor.
- You start experiencing withdrawal symptoms like headache, nausea, restlessness, hallucinations or depression on stopping the medicine.
- You are pregnant or planning to conceive or a lactating mother.
- You develop an allergic reaction to the medicine.
- You are consuming alcohol, taking any anxiety medicine, sleeping pills or marijuana.
- You want to make any alterations to your prescription. Do not start, stop or change the medicines without a doctor's consultation.
- Note: Always inform the doctor about any other underlying health conditions, if present, for which you are being treated. The dose needs adjustment in case of kidney or liver diseases.
Mode of Action of Lobazam Md 0.25 MG
How Does It Work?
Tablet Lobazam MD is chemically composed of Clobazam. Clobazam is a benzodiazepine that acts by facilitating GABA. GABA is a chemical messenger naturally present in the brain which decreases neuronal excitability, thus providing a calming effect on the brain.
Clobazam binds to a specific BZD (benzodiazepine) receptor, which is an integral part of the GABA-A receptor complex. It, therefore, suppresses seizures(fits) in the brain, relieves anxiety and facilitates sleep....
Directions for Use of Lobazam Md 0.25 MG
- The dose and duration of tablet Lobazam should be prescribed by the doctor.
- The tablet should be taken orally with or without food, preferably at the same time daily
- as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not chew, spit or consume any liquids while taking the tablet.
Interactions of Lobazam Md 0.25 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- The use of medicines like Apomorphine, Amitriptyline and Buprenorphine can result in excessive sedation, drowsiness and might have a depressant action on the central nervous system.
- Desogestrel and oral contraceptive pills (simultaneous use of Lobazam may reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptive pills)
- Fluconazole (might increase the side effects of Lobazam when used concomitantly )

Storage and disposal of Lobazam Md 0.25 MG

Overdose
