Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Clobazam belongs to a class of medications known as Benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of a chemical messenger, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), at the GABA A receptor, which subdues the abnormal activity of the nerve cells in the brain. It also has an agent that controls seizures or anti-panic effects. It improves the activity of GABA and suppresses the spike and waves discharge in the absence of seizures. This decreases the frequency, amplitude, and duration of minor motor seizures and controls the onset of seizures in epileptic patients. Clobazam calms the nerve cells and helps in reducing anxiety and inducing sleep.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Clobazam belongs to a class of medications known as Benzodiazepines. Clobazam can interact with any of these medicines:
