Medical Description

Livbend Plus suspension is a prescription medicine used to treat susceptible worm and other parasitic infections. It contains a combination of ivermectin and albendazole. Ivermectin acts on the nerve and muscle cells of parasites, while albendazole prevents worms from using glucose for energy, so susceptible parasites become paralysed or die. Livbend suspension is taken by mouth with or after food using the measuring device supplied with the pack, and children should receive it only under adult supervision and medical direction. The exact treatment depends on the parasite being treated.

Uses

  • Worm infections: Treats susceptible intestinal infections caused by roundworms, hookworms, threadworms, whipworms, pinworms and other worms.
  • Other parasitic infections: May be prescribed for susceptible infections caused by flukes or other parasites after medical assessment.

Ivermectin acts on the nerve and muscle cells of susceptible parasites, causing paralysis and death. Albendazole blocks the parasites from using glucose, which removes their energy supply. The combination helps clear the infection when the parasites are sensitive to both ingredients.
