Librium 25 MG Description
Librium tablets contain an active ingredient called chlordiazepoxide which belongs to a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines. Librium tablets is a long-acting tranquilliser that interferes with ce
rtain neurotransmitters' natural state called GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid). Chlordiazepoxide binds to these GABA receptors and enhances the GABA enhanced synaptic inhibition, responsible for its calmness and sedation effects.

How Does It Work?

Directions for Use of Librium 25 MG
- Tablet Librium tablets can be taken orally with or without water.
- Do not chew, break, or bite the tablet.
- Avoid cigarette smoking with this medicine.
- Contact your doctor if you’re experiencing uncontrollable side effects with this medicine.
- This medicine is usually taken for four months only. Do not take Librium tablets any longer. Take medicine in the dosage as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not stop the medicine on your own. Do not change the dosage of the medicine on your own without checking with your physician. By changing the dosage or stopping the medicine suddenly, you may experience life-threatening withdrawal symptoms....
Interactions of Librium 25 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Con-current use of chlordiazepoxide and opioids like codeine, hydrocodone, fentanyl, hydromorphone can result in severe respiratory depression and sedation.
- Chlordiazepoxide levels may be increased if taken with CYP3A4 Inhibitors like:
- Ketoconazole
- Clarithromycin
- Itraconazole
- Erythromycin
- Ritonavir
- Chlordiazepoxide affects may be decreased with bosentan, theophylline, and tocilizumab.
Interactions with food items
- You can continue with the usual diet.
- Librium tablets can be taken with or without food.
- Avoid grapefruit juice if you are taking chlordiazepoxide as serious side effects can occur with it.
Storage and disposal of Librium 25 MG
Store Librium medicine in a cool place and away from heat. Keep the tablets in the same package they came. Keep them out of children. The tablets that aren’t required anymore should be safely disposed of to avoid accidental usage. They shouldn’t be flushed in the toilet....
Dosage of Librium 25 MG
Overdose
Chlordiazepoxide overdose can result in seizures, slowed breathing, sedation, anxiety, depression, insomnia, headaches, sweating, delirium, coma, slurred speech, muscle fatigue, feeling lightheaded, fainting, shallow breath.
Keep your family or caregiver informed of your medications and possible side effects. They can call for emergency services immediately in case the patient is unresponsive, has collapsed, has difficulty breathing, convulsions or cannot be awakened....
Missed a Dose
Tablet Librium should be taken as prescribed by a doctor. Take the missed dose at the earliest. However, skip the missed dose if it's time for your second dose. Never take a double dose.
