Medical Description
Levitra tablet is a medicine used to help men who have difficulty getting or maintaining an erection. It improves blood flow to the penis, but it works only when you are sexually stimulated. This means the medicine does not cause an erection on its ownyou still need sexual arousal for it to work effectively. It is usually taken with a glass of water, and following your doctor’s instructions helps you get the best results.
You should take this medicine exactly as prescribed. It can be taken with or after meals, which may help reduce stomach-related side effects. However, very heavy or high-fat meals may delay how quickly it starts working. It’s also a good idea to take it at the same time each day to maintain steady effects. Avoid taking more than the prescribed dose, as this increases the risk of side effects such as headache, dizziness, or nasal congestion.
Some men may experience dizziness or visual changes after taking this medicine, so it’s important to see how your body responds before driving or operating machines. Alcohol can be taken with Levitra tablet, but drinking too much alcohol may make it harder to achieve an erection. Grapefruit or grapefruit juice should be avoided because it can increase the level of the medicine in your body and raise the chances of side effects.
This medicine interacts with several other drugs. It should never be taken with nitrates, nitric-oxide donors, nicorandil, or riociguat, as these combinations can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Strong HIV medicines, antifungal medicines like ketoconazole or itraconazole, and antibiotics such as erythromycin or clarithromycin can also increase its levels in the body. If you are taking alpha-blockers for prostate or blood pressure problems, your doctor may start you on a lower dose to prevent dizziness or low blood pressure.
Before taking Levitra tablet, inform your doctor if you have heart problems, very low blood pressure, severe liver disease, bleeding issues, or eye conditions such as sudden vision loss. This medicine is not meant for women and should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you ever experience sudden vision changes, chest pain, or an erection lasting more than 4 hours, stop using the medicine and seek medical help immediately.
