Medical Description
Labetalol 100 mg tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina pectoris, a type of chest pain caused by a lack of blood flow to the heart. It contains labetalol as its active ingredient. Labetalol 100 mg tablet works by lowering blood pressure, heart rate and the force of the heart's contractions.
Take as suggested by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed based on the blood pressure range and severity of the condition. You can take this medicine with or without food. It would be best if you take it at the same time every day to gain optimal benefits. Some other medicines with labetalol as its active ingredient are Lobet tablet, Lablol tablet, Labecor tablet and Gravidol tablet.
Uncontrolled blood pressure can lead to serious health consequences on various organs such as the heart, kidney, brain, eyes, etc. Thus, never stop taking the medicine, even if you start feeling better, without consulting your doctor.
Uses
- Labebet 100 tablet is used for the management of high blood pressure.
- It is also used to treat chest pain (angina pectoris) with or without hypertension.
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to labetalol or any other ingredient of this medicine.
- If you had or have any stage of heart blockages.
- If you have any heart-related condition such as shock, heart failure, decreased heart rate, and low blood pressure.
- If you have a history of asthma or any other lung problem.
- If you have an untreated adrenal gland tumour (phaeochromocytoma).
- If you have electrolyte imbalance (metabolic acidosis).

Dosage
Overdose
- Overdose of Labebet-100 may result in decreased heart rate, decreased blood pressure and blood sugar, difficulty in breathing, loss of consciousness, heart insufficiency, etc.
- If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
Missed a Dose
- Missing a dose of antihypertensives may lead to high blood pressure and other heart-related complications.
- If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
