Medical Description

Kabilyte Injection is an antifungal medication. It contains caspofungin as the active substance. Kabilyte Injection is used to treat serious fungal infections in your tissues or organs (invasive candidiasis) and fungal infections in your nose, nasal sinuses or lungs (invasive aspergillosis) in children, adolescents and adults. It is also used for the treatment of suspected fungal infections if you have a fever and a low white cell count that has not improved on treatment with an antibiotic. This medicine will be given to you by your doctor or nurse. Do not self-inject it. Before starting Kabilyte Injection, inform your doctor if you are pregnant/breastfeeding and about your complete medical history.

  • Kabilyte Injection is used for the treatment of serious fungal infections in your tissues or organs (invasive candidiasis) and fungal infections in your nose, nasal sinuses or lungs (invasive aspergillosis) in children, adolescents and adults.
  • It is also used to treat suspected fungal infections if you have a fever and a low white cell count that has not improved on treatment with an antibiotic.

Contraindications

You are allergic to caspofungin or any of the other ingredients of Kabilyte Injection.

Missed a Dose

It is unlikely that a dose of Kabilyte Injection will be missed if you are monitored in a healthcare setup. However, if you have missed taking a dose of the injection, inform the doctor or nurse immediately.

  • Some medicines can affect the way Kabilyte Injection works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
  • Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
  • Particular care should be taken if you are taking cyclosporine or tacrolimus (used to help prevent organ transplant rejection or to suppress your immune system), some HIV medicines such as efavirenz or nevirapine, phenytoin or carbamazepine (used for the treatment of fits/seizures), dexamethasone (a steroid used for the treatment of inflammations) and rifampicin (an antibiotic).
