Ivalp 250 mg Tablet is a medication used for managing seizures or fits. Other uses of Ivalp 250 mg tablets include treating bipolar disorder and lower migraine symptoms. This medicine can be used alo

ne or in combination with other medicines in managing seizures. It can be used in different seizures, such as partial or complete seizures. It is also used in the absence of seizures. This tablet contains Valproic acid as its single main ingredient. The mode of action of Ivalp 250 mg tablets is to lower the excessive and abnormal nerve fibre activity in the brain, which helps control seizures and symptoms of bipolar disorder and migraine. Its calming effects help manage mood swings in people with bipolar disorder. Stopping these tablets can worsen the seizure disorder. Follow your doctor’s directions for using Ivalp 250 mg tablets. Caution must be used in children less than two years and patients with various mitochondrial disorders, as it can increase the risk of liver failure and even death. Drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and diarrhoea are some common side effects of Ivalp 250 mg tablets. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, as Ivalp tablets can cause birth defects. It can also cause severe injury to the pancreas. Contact your doctor if a child gets her first-period whilst using Ivalp tablets.

  • As per CDSCO and USFDA, Ivalp 250 mg tablets are used in the following conditions-
  • In the treatment of various types of seizures such as complex partial seizures, simple and complex absence seizures, absence seizures, etc.
  • In the management of manic episodes of Bipolar disorder (when lithium cannot be used).
  • To prevent migraine headaches.

Contraindications of Ivalp 250 MG

  • If you have a known hypersensitive reaction to Valproic acid or any ingredient of Ivalp 250 mg tablet.
  • If you are currently expecting or planning to conceive.
  • If you have been diagnosed with Pancreatitis.
  • If you have significant or serious liver dysfunction.
  • If you have been diagnosed with any genetic mitochondrial disorder
  • If you are also diagnosed with Urea metabolism cycle disorder.
  • If you suspected a mitochondrial disorder in children under the age of 2.
  • If you have noticed having any suicidal thoughts or tendencies.
  • If you have any bleeding disorder. Regular platelet count and clotting tests should be done.
  • If you have increased ammonia levels in the blood, which causes symptoms like lethargy, vomiting, mental status changes, etc.
  • If you are using Topiramate medication, which can also increase ammonia levels and cause low body temperature.
