Flumod Tablets are used to treat sudden depression and manage major depressive disorders. It is also used short-term treatment and maintenance of symptoms of panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive diso
rder (pattern of repetitive and unwanted thoughts and behavious), eating disorder (bulimia nervosa) are some of the other uses of Flumod Tablets. This medicine has a single active ingredient: Fluoxetine is an antidepressant medication. The mode of action of Flumod Tablets is by balancing the brain's chemical substances that slow down the overworked nervous system. It also stabilises mood and causes behaviour changes. It is not a habit-forming medicine, but some people with a history of addiction use it. Suddenly, stopping this medicine can cause withdrawal symptoms like cramps, sweating, vomiting, and tremors. So its dose should be slowly lowered. Panic disorder, depression, and other mood and behavioural disorders affect a person's everyday life, which lowers the quality of life. Uses of Flumod 20 MG
- As per CDSCO and USFDA, Flumod Tablets is used in the short term and long term maintenance and treatment of
- Major Depressive Disorder (reduces mood fluctuations and improves behaviour)
- Obsessive-Compulsive disorder (lowers repetitive and patterned actions and thoughts)
- Panic Disorder, with or without agoraphobia ( fear of open space or crowds)
- Bulimia Nervosa (eating disorder)
Contraindications of Flumod 20 MG
- If you have any allergic reaction to Fluoxetine to any ingredient of Flumod Tablets
- If you notice sudden mood fluctuations or suicidal thoughts
- If you have used different antidepressant medications in the last 14 days
- If you are diagnosed with tardive dyskinesia (stiff, uncontrollable body movements)
- If you have conditions that cause hyperprolactinemia (high prolactin levels)
- If you are diagnosed with an eye condition like narrow-angle glaucoma. The Flumod Tablets can increase the fluid pressure inside the eye
- If you are diagnosed with neuroleptic malignant syndrome (a rare reaction to antipsychotic medicines that affects the nervous system)
- If you have severe blockage in the stomach and intestines due to paralytic ileus (decreased movements of intestines)

The Flumod Tablets contains a single active ingredient, Fluoxetine. It is an antidepressant medication. Directions for Use of Flumod 20 MG
- Take the Flumod Tablets in the exact dosage and at the same time, each day
- Do not increase the dosage, even if you cannot notice its effects
- Take this tablet as it is with a glass of water. Do not try to break this tablet or chew it
- Do not take Flumod Tablets with other medications without informing your doctor
- If you stop taking this medication suddenly, it may have unwanted side effects

Interactions with other medicines
- Inform your doctor if you have used Fluoxetine, a component in Flumod tablet, in the last five weeks. It can remain in the body for an extended period. Taking this medicine can lead to overdose side effects...
- Flumod Tablets can increase bleeding if you use blood thinners (warfarin) and medicines such as aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.
- If you are currently using antiepileptics (seizure/fits,medicines), antipsychotics, antiarrhythmics (heart medicine), Flumod Tablets can slow down the removal of these medicines
- If you have taken antidepressant medications (linezolid, selegiline, etc.) in the last 14 days, Flumod Tablets can interact to cause fatal reactions
- If you are using any medicines that increase serotonin levels in the body, Flumod Tablets can cause serotonin toxicity
- Do not take medicines that cause drowsiness with Flumod Tablets, such as anti-allergy medicines, cold or cough medicines, certain pain relievers, sleeping pills, etc.
- Pimozide medicine is contraindicated with Flumod Tablets as it can cause QT prolongation (heart rhythm disorder)
Interactions with food items
- While consuming Flumod Tablets, do not do anything high in tyramine such as cheese, milk, meat, bananas, soy, excess chocolate, chicken liver, canned fruits, etc. It can cause severe side effects and a sudden increase in blood pressure...
- Try to avoid grapefruit and its juice. It can increase the concentration of the medicine
- Do not use cigarettes or tobacco products. They can alter the effectiveness of the Flumod Tablets

Overdose
Overdose of Flumod Tablets can cause symptoms such as confusion, decreased focus, suicidal thoughts, swollen feet and hands, low sexual desire, trouble breathing, liver problems (yellowing of skin and eyes), severe abdominal pain, slow heart rate, and trouble with sleeping and loss of consciousness.

Missed a Dose
If you have missed a single dose of Flumod Tablets, take it as soon as possible. If you recall missing a dose when it's already time to take the next tablet of Flumod Tablets, then skip the missed one and take the next dose. Do not take both tablets together or within a couple of hours, as it can cause an overdose. Talk to your doctor if you have missed many doses....
