Medical Description

Flucin B cream is used for certain inflamed skin infections caused by bacteria. Its active ingredients are betamethasone and fusidic acid.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine, do not use it. Do not apply it to untreated fungal or viral infections, acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, broken skin or the eyes unless a doctor specifically advises it.

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or could be pregnant. Use this cream only when advised.

Breast Feeding

Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Do not apply it to the nipple or breast immediately before feeding.

Driving

This cream is not expected to affect driving unless you develop an unusual reaction.

Alcohol

No specific alcohol interaction is expected.

Directions for Use

For external use only, apply on healthy skin free from cuts and wounds. Apply a thin layer to the affected area as directed, wash your hands afterwards, and keep it away from the eyes, mouth and nose. Do not cover the area with an airtight dressing unless told to do so.

Storage and disposal

Store in the original pack at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and dispose of unused cream through a pharmacist.

Dosage

Overdose

Using too much may cause severe irritation or steroid-related effects, especially over large areas or under a dressing. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Fusidic acid stops susceptible bacteria from making essential proteins. Betamethasone reduces redness, swelling and itching caused by inflammation.

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can increase unwanted effects when combined with topical steroids or antibiotics. Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements and herbal products you use. In particular, mention other steroid creams, antibiotic creams and products applied to the same area.
