How Does It Work?

The active ingredient in the Espam tablet is Escitalopram which belongs to a class of medications called serotonin reuptake inhibitors, also known as SSRIs. Serotonin is a chemical messenger (neurotransmitters). Serotonin reuptake inhibitors increase serotonin levels by preventing the reuptake of serotonin, and thus, more serotonin is available for the transmission of messages thereby relieving the brain and calming the mood of an individual. Therefore, it is used to treat mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and obstructive compulsive disorder.
