Medical Description
Es-omepraz-DSR Capsule is a medicine used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which stomach acid flows back into the oesophagus, causing a burning sensation, chest discomfort, and regurgitation. This capsule contains esomeprazole and domperidone as its active ingredients, which work together to reduce stomach acid and improve stomach and intestinal motility, thereby preventing acid reflux and alleviating associated symptoms.
This medicine is effective in managing heartburn, acidity, and discomfort caused by GERD. By reducing excess acid in the stomach, esomeprazole protects the lining of the oesophagus. At the same time, domperidone helps food move more quickly through the stomach and intestines, thereby decreasing the likelihood of acid backup and bloating.
For optimal results, Es-omepraz-DSR Capsule should be taken at least one hour before meals, as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the capsule whole with water and avoid lying down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. It is recommended to finish your last meal at least two hours before bedtime to minimise nighttime reflux.
Common side effects of Es-omepraz-DSR Capsule may include diarrhoea, stomach pain, flatulence, headaches, or dry mouth. These are generally mild and temporary, but if they persist or worsen, you should contact your doctor promptly.
Before starting Es-omepraz-DSR Capsule, inform your doctor about your full medical history, including any liver problems, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Following a GERD-friendly lifestyle, such as avoiding spicy, oily, and acidic foods, maintaining a healthy weight, and eating smaller meals, will help improve the effectiveness of the treatment.
