Efavir Tablet is used to treat Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. It contains efavirenz as the main active ingredient. It helps reduce the amount of the virus in your blood, strengthens your immune system, and lowers the risk of developing HIV-related illnesses. It is recommended that it be taken on an empty stomach at bedtime, as this can help reduce side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Common side effects include skin rash, abnormal dreams, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, and headache. This medicine must always be taken in combination with other anti-HIV medicines. It is important to note that this medicine does not cure HIV infection.

- You are currently taking astemizole or terfenadine (for allergy symptoms), bepridil (for heart disease), cisapride (for heartburn), ergot alkaloids (e.g., ergotamine, dihydroergotamine, ergonovine, methylergonovine) (for migraine and cluster headaches), midazolam or triazolam (to help you sleep), pimozide, imipramine, amitriptyline, or clomipramine (for certain mental conditions) elbasvir or grazoprevir (for hepatitis C), St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) (a herbal remedy for depression and anxiety), flecainide, metoprolol (for irregular heart beat), certain antibiotics (macrolides, fluoroquinolones, imidazole), triazole antifungal agents, certain antimalarial treatments or methadone (for opiate addiction).
