Medical Description

Drep Wax Ear ear drop is used to soften and help clear blocked or impacted ear wax. It contains a combination of dichlorobenzene, benzocaine, chlorobutanol and turpentine oil. Dichlorobenzene and turpentine oil help loosen compacted wax, while benzocaine can temporarily numb discomfort; chlorobutanol is part of the formulation. Apply the drops only into the affected ear after a clinician has confirmed that wax is the likely cause and the eardrum is intact. This product is for ear use and is not swallowed.

Using too many applications may increase ear irritation or other unwanted effects. If you think you have used too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you miss an application, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one. Do not apply extra product to make up for it.

How does this medicine work?

Dichlorobenzene and turpentine oil help soften and loosen compacted ear wax. Benzocaine is a local numbing ingredient that may reduce discomfort while the wax is being cleared. Chlorobutanol is part of the formulation, but its separate contribution to wax removal is not established here. The drops do not treat hearing loss, discharge, dizziness or pain caused by another ear condition.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Drep Wax Ear drops works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, mention other ear products, especially those containing local numbing or wax-softening ingredients, so their combined use can be checked.
