Doxin Capsule is a prescription medicine. It is used to manage psychotic and neurotic depression, as well as anxiety disorder. Treating various types of depression associated with various situations such as alcoholism, chronic diseases, etc., are a few of the other uses of Doxin Capsule. It is composed of Doxepin as its main component. It is an antidepressant medication. The mode of action of the Doxin Capsule is by raising the levels of a specific chemical substance in the brain called serotonin. It is responsible for lowering mood swings. It is not an addictive medication and does not cause dependency. But weight gain, confusion, increased heart rate, etc., are some of the side effects of the Doxin Capsule. It is essential to follow your doctor's direction for using the Doxin Capsule, as it has a relatively high toxicity in overdose. Do not stop using Doxin capsule medicine suddenly, as it can cause withdrawal symptoms like sweating, tremors, cold, etc. The usage should be observed as it can cause suicidal thoughts and behaviour.   • As per USFDA, Doxin Capsule is used for the following conditions
  • Psychotic depression (severe depressive disorder includes some types of psychosis such as hallucinations, delusions, etc.)
  • Neurotic depression (neurotic depression is depression in an emotionally unstable patient)
  • Involutional depression
  • Manic depressive disorders
  • Depression or anxiety associated with organic disease (the possibility of medical interaction should be considered if the patient is receiving other medicine at the same time).
  • Depression and anxiety associated with alcohol addiction (not to be taken along with alcohol).
  • Insomnia in children with ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

How Does It Work?

Doxin capsule contains Doxepin as the main ingredient. It belongs to the tricyclic antidepressant class of medicines. Interactions with other medicines

  • Do not use the Doxin capsule if you are currently using other antidepressants like MAO inhibitors such as linezolid, methylene blue, phenelzine, selegiline, etc., because they can lead to severe side effects like tremors, severe seizures, etc. It can sometimes even lead to death. At least a 14-day gap should be between taking these two medications.
  • Do not use other antidepressants with a similar composition like amitriptyline, imipramine, etc. They can exaggerate the side effects of Doxin capsule medicine.
  • Do not use Doxin Capsules with other medicines that cause sedation and drowsiness, like tranquillisers, opioid or narcotic pain relievers, muscle relaxants, etc., without consulting a doctor.
  • If you use antibiotics, antifungals, migraine medicines, Doxin Capsules can decrease their effects.
  • Doxin Capsules can have interactions and side effects with stomach ulcers, antimalarial medicines, heart medicines, and blood thinners.
