Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Corticosterois decreases plasma salicylic acid levels
- Acdifying agents increase salicylic acid levels
- Alkanizing agents decreases Salicylic acid levels
- Salicylic acid interferes with heparin and can cause bleeding problems
- Pyrazinamide with salicylic acid stops the rise of uric acid in blood
- Salicylic acid with sulphonylureas can cause low blood sugar
- Methotrexate can cause toxicity
- Anticoagulants when used with this medication may increase risk of bleeding
Other general Interactions
- Salicylic acid can interfere with thyroid function, change in uric acid levels and prothrombin
- Betamethasone can suppress adrenal function causing Cushing syndrome
