Contraindications of Dapavel M 10/500mg Strip Of 10 Tablets

Acute or chronic metabolic acidosis (acid build up in the body), including diabetic ketoacidosis, with or without coma
History of severe hypersensitivity to Dapagliflozin or Metformin or other contents of the medicine
Alcohol intoxication or alcoholism
Severe renal failure
Liver impairment
History of cardiac failure or heart attack
Severe infection or diarrhoea

Is it safe to take the Dapavel M tablet during pregnancy?

Dapavel M is not recommended for use during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters due to the potential risk of harm to the baby. No sufficient data is available to suggest that any harm is caused. However, insulin can be used to maintain sugar levels as normal as possible.

Breast Feeding

Is it safe to take the Dapavel M tablet while breastfeeding?

Metformin as well as dapagliflozin have been found to be excreted into breast milk. Therefore, it is not recommended in nursing mothers.

Driving

Can I drive after taking the Dapavel M tablet?

Dapavel M does not affect the ability to drive. However, taking it with other medicines that can lower blood sugar levels may lead to very low blood sugar. This can cause weakness, dizziness or vision trouble, which may affect the ability to drive. It is best to avoid driving for worry of such symptoms appearing.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol after taking the Dapavel M tablet?

Alcohol consumption increases the effect of metformin present in this medication, which increases the risk of a complication called lactic acidosis. Avoid alcohol consumption when taking this medication.

Interactions with other medicines

Medicines that lower blood sugar levels such as insulin or ‘sulphonylurea’ medicines should not be taken with Dapavel M as they can cause very low blood sugar
Do not take this medicine with cimetidine as It affects the excretion of the metformin in this medicine and can increase its level in the blood
Dapavel M is not advised to be taken with medicines that treat asthma or arthritis as they can significantly increase levels of blood sugar
Taking Dapavel M with other medicines that increase urine production is not recommended as it can cause dehydration and very low blood pressure
Do not take this medication while also taking medicines for pain and inflammation such as ibuprofen or celecoxib to avoid high levels of blood glucose
Not indicated for concomitant use with medicines that treat high blood pressure as they can increase risk of lactic acidosis in the body
