Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, speak to your doctor before using Cremagel L gel. Only a small amount passes into the body from the skin, and your doctor will advise you.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

If you are breastfeeding, check with your doctor before using Cremagel L gel.

Driving

Driving

Cremagel L gel may sometimes cause lightheadedness or dizziness. Do not drive or use machines until you feel fully alert.

Alcohol

Alcohol

Whether alcohol affects Cremagel L gel is not clearly known. It is sensible to limit alcohol, which can also worsen constipation.

Directions for Use

For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area around the back passage before applying Cremagel L gel. Wash your hands well before and after use. Keep it away from your eyes, nose, and mouth, and rinse with water straight away if it gets into your eyes.

Storage and disposal

Store Cremagel L gel in a cool, dry place below thirty degrees Celsius, away from sunlight. Keep it out of the reach and sight of children.

Quick Tips

  • A warm bath can soothe the area and ease the pain.
  • Do not hold in the urge to pass stool, as this makes stools harder.
  • Eat fibre-rich foods and drink plenty of water to keep stools soft.
  • Do not start any laxative without checking with your doctor first.
  • Regular gentle exercise helps keep your bowels working well.

Dosage

Overdose

Using more Cremagel L gel than needed on the skin is unlikely to cause serious harm, but too much may lead to dizziness or a feeling of faintness. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Cremagel L gel works in two ways. Diltiazem relaxes the ring of muscle around the back passage, which lowers the pressure there and improves blood flow so the tear can heal. Lidocaine numbs the area for a while, giving relief from the pain and burning felt when passing stool.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can change the way Cremagel L gel works, and it may affect how other medicines work too. Tell your doctor about all the medicines and supplements you are taking. In particular, mention it if you are taking medicines for the heart or for blood pressure, or other numbing medicines, as these can add to its effects.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Yes. Sitting in a warm bath can soothe the area and ease the pain and itching. It works well alongside the medicine your doctor has advised.
Do not start any laxative on your own. Check with your doctor first. Eating fibre-rich foods and drinking plenty of water usually helps keep stools soft.
One of its ingredients can widen blood vessels for a short while, which may bring on a mild headache. This usually settles. Tell your doctor if it bothers you.
