Clotas Plus Tablet treats anxiety disorder (excessive thoughts that are difficult to control), panic disorder (sudden attacks of extreme fear), hypertension, and irregularities in heart rhythm. The a
ctive ingredients of Clotas Plus Tablet are clonazepam and propranolol. Clonazepam reduces brain activity to produce calmness and relaxation. Propranolol relaxes the blood vessels to decrease the raised blood pressure. Clotas Plus Tablet has a habit-forming potential due to its clonazepam content and may cause physical dependence (inability to function without the medicine). Hence, it should not be stopped suddenly without consulting the doctor. Side effects of Clotas Plus Tablet are disturbed sleep, lightheadedness, and tiredness. It is advised to consult a doctor before starting treatment with Clotas Plus Tablet and get information on its potential side effects and benefits. - Clotas Plus Tablet must be taken per the doctor’s prescription.
- Clotas Plus Tablet can be taken with or without food.
- Make sure to swallow the tablet as a whole and not chew, crush or break it.
- You must take it at the same time as per prescription.
Interactions of Clotas Plus Tablet
Interactions with other medicines
- Clotas Plus Tablet should not be taken with other medicines used to treat hypertension, such as nifedipine and nicardipine, as this increases the risk of heart failure.
- The following medicines, when taken with Clotas Plus Tablet, decreases their effectiveness and hence must be avoided:
- Ibuprofen (painkiller)
- Ergotamine (medicine to treat migraine)
- Chlorpromazine (medicine to treat mental disorders)
- Rifampicin (medicine for the treatment of tuberculosis)
- St John's wort (herbal medicine for depression)
- Life-threatening side-effects of an overdose may result if the following medicines are taken with Clotas Plus Tablet and therefore must be avoided:
- Cimetidine (medicine to treat stomach problems)
- Warfarin (medicine for blood-thinning)
- Fluvoxamine (medicine to treat anxiety)
Interactions with food items
- Tobacco products when taken along with Clotas Plus tablets may make the medicine ineffective or produce opposite effects.
- Caffeine should be avoided with Clotas Plus tablets as it may reduce the effects of this medicine.
- Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may lead to toxicity when taken with Clotas Plus tablets by increasing the blood levels of this medicine beyond normal.
