Medical Description
Carnisure injection contains levocarnitine, a natural amino acid your body uses to convert fat into energy by transporting long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria, the energy-producing centers of your cells. This injection is prescribed when your body’s carnitine levels are abnormally low, a condition known as carnitine deficiency, which can occur due to genetic disorders, kidney disease, dialysis, or other metabolic conditions. By restoring normal blood carnitine levels, Carnisure injection supports the proper function of muscles, the heart, and overall energy metabolism.
Carnisure injection may cause side effects, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, or a fishy body odor. Rarely, more serious reactions, such as allergic reactions, seizures, or muscle pain, may occur. Important warnings include notifying your healthcare provider if you have kidney disease, a history of seizures, or any unusual symptoms during treatment. It is also essential to adhere to the prescribed dosing schedule and administration guidelines.
Uses
- Inborn Errors of Metabolism: Treating a carnitine deficiency that results from certain genetic disorders that disrupt the body's normal chemical processes.
- End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD): Treating carnitine deficiency in individuals with ESRD who are undergoing regular hemodialysis.
