Calpol 120 suspension is a fever and pain-reducing medicine. It contains paracetamol/acetaminophen as the active substance. Give this medicine to your child in the exact dose and duration as recommended by your doctor. Do not give more than the prescribed dose. Shake well before use. Overdose

Taking Calpol 120 suspension in high doses may result in serious liver damage. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and stomach ache. In case of an overdose, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed a dose then give it to your child as soon as you remember. Keep a gap of at least 4-6 hours between this dose and the next dose. If it is almost time for the next dose then skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule.

How Does It Work?

There are some chemicals in the body called prostaglandins. These are substances that cause pain, swelling, fever. Calpol 120 suspension contains paracetamol which blocks the production of these prostaglandins, thus temporarily controlling fever or pain. It acts on the area of brain which is responsible for controlling temperature. Thus, it controls the fever.

Interactions with other medicines

  • Some medicines can affect the way Calpol 120 suspension works, or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals your child is currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
  • Medicines used to treat nausea or vomiting like metoclopramide or domperidone.
  • Medicines used to thin the blood like warfarin.
  • Cholesterol lowering medicines like cholestyramine, do not take this medicine within one hour of taking Calpol 120 suspension.
  • Medicines used to treat bacterial infection like chloramphenicol.

Interactions with food items

Calpol can be taken either before or after meals. However, it is generally recommended to administer it after food to minimize the risk of stomach irritation.
