Medical Description
Bryxta suspension for infusion is an anticancer medication used to treat various types of cancer in adults. It contains bevacizumab, the active ingredient, which inhibits the growth of new blood vessels that supply nutrients to cancer cells.
This medication will be administered in a hospital setting by a doctor or nurse as a slow intravenous infusion. The first dose will be given over 90 minutes, which may be shortened to 60 and then 30 minutes for subsequent doses if tolerated well. Do not attempt to self-inject this medication, and ensure it is never given as an IV push or bolus, or mixed with glucose or dextrose solutions.
Bryxta suspension for infusion is strictly contraindicated for pregnant women. Women who are capable of becoming pregnant should use effective birth control during treatment and for up to 6 months after finishing Bryxta suspension for infusion. Breastfeeding must also be stopped during therapy and for at least 6 months after the final dose. This medication is not approved for use in children under 18 years of age.
Before starting treatment, please inform your doctor if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, liver or kidney problems, or a known hypersensitivity to products derived from Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. If you have undergone major surgery, you should not take this medication for at least 28 days, or until your wound is completely healed, as it can cause serious complications with wound healing.
