Belzid T Injection

• injection is used in the treatment of serious and complicated infections caused by bacteria, those affecting the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, intra-abdominal infections, septicemia, and bacterial meningitis. It is to be used only when an infection cannot be controlled by other antibiotics.
• Treatment of Meningitis. (inflammation of the meninges that cover the brain and spinal cord)

• If you are allergic to ceftazidine, tazobactam or any other ingredients of injection.
• If you have a history of a severe allergic reaction to any other antibiotics, like penicillins.

• Diarrhoea
• Blood disorders, such as a decrease in blood count, excessive platelets in the blood
• Constipation
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Indigestion
• Stomach pain
• Fever
• Anaemia
• Fungal infection (candidiasis)
• Headache
• Sleeplessness
• Rashes
• Itching
• Inflammation and swelling at the injection site

Other General Warnings

• You have a history of allergy to penicillins or any medicines; as much caution is required in such patients.
• You experience any allergic reaction due to the use of this medicine, the doctor may discontinue the medicine quickly.
• You experience diarrhoea as a side effect of this medicine, a doctor may discontinue the treatment and switch to an alternative medication.
• You may develop a kidney problem.
• You experience bleeding disorders or are taking blood-thinning medicines like Warfarin.
• You experience fits or convulsions.

• injection will be given in the hospital by your doctor or nurse as an injection.
• Do not self-inject this medicine.

• Store this medicine at or below 25°C.
• Protect it from light and heat.
• Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Any unused portion should not be stored and discarded properly.

How Does It Work?

• Ceftazidime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which is essential for their survival. Therefore, it leads to the death of the cell. Hence, it helps stop the growth of bacteria and prevent infection.
• Tazobactam is a medication that enhances the effectiveness of certain antibiotics. It does this by blocking an enzyme (called beta-lactamase) made by some bacteria that can destroy antibiotics. By inhibiting this enzyme, tazobactam protects the antibiotic and enhances its ability to kill bacteria more effectively.

Interactions with other medicines

• Medicines used to relax the muscles during surgery, like Vecuronium.
• Medicines used to treat certain types of cancer, such as methotrexate.
• Medicines used to treat gout include probenecid.
• If you have kidney problems and are taking antibiotics such as Tobramycin, Gentamicin, and Vancomycin.
• Concomitant use of antibiotics like chloramphenicol, gentamycin, tobramycin, and water pills like furosemide can cause adverse effects on the kidneys and gut flora or the digestive tract.
