Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp composition is an antibiotic called azithromycin.

Uses of Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp

Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp uses are in bacterial infections like respiratory infections, sinusitis, skin infections, ear infections, traveller's diarrhoea and sexually transmitted diseases.

Contraindications of Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp

If you are allergic to azithromycin, erythromycin or any macrolide/ketolide antibiotics or have a history of cholestatic jaundice, avoid this medicine.

The medicine prevents the growth of bacteria. There is interference in protein synthesis that inhibits the process required for bacterial growth by binding to the nucleus. So, the bacterial growth is stopped and bacteria are killed depending on the concentration of the medicine and the organism.

Directions for Use of Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp

The medicine should be consumed as prescribed by the physician. It has to be consumed orally either 1 hour before or 2 hours after food, as food decreases the absorption of azithromycin.

Interactions of Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp

Interactions with other medicines

  • Antacids can decrease the efficacy of Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp and hence to be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after food.
  • Blood thinners like enoxaparin, fondaparinux, heparin and warfarin may cause allergic reactions hence to be avoided along with azithromycin.
  • Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp also interacts with medicine that prevent blood clotting, like thrombin, bivalirudin and dalteparin.
  • Terfaridine if used with Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp can cause severe heart problems.
  • Drugs used to treat HIV, like zidovudine or nelfinavir, should be avoided along with azithromycin as they increase the concentrations of the drug.
  • Rifabutin, which is used in the treatment of tuberculosis, when given together with Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp can lead to adverse reactions as it causes neutropenia.
  • Quinidine (used for heart diseases) and cyclosporins can also interact with Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp.

Interactions with food items

Grapefruit is broken down by the liver just like azithromycin does and so it can react with Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp.

Other general Interactions

There is no adequate clinic work on the reaction of Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp during pregnancy, but its safety is not mentioned anywhere. Hence, it is not recommended during pregnancy, and it is better to consult the doctor. It is known that azithromycin passes from the mother to the baby via milk during breastfeeding. Thus, doctors advice not to breastfeed the baby when you are taking Azee 200mg Rediuse Syp, and it is better to discard the milk. One can restart the breastfeeding after stopping the drug.
