Augmentin DDS suspension is an antibiotic medicine used for the treatment of various bacterial infections such as infection of the lungs, airways, ears, urinary tract, skin, bone, joints, soft tissue
and tooth. It contains a combination of two medicines Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid and belongs to the class of penicillin antibiotics. This medicine is used in children. Please inform your doctor if your child is allergic to antibiotics or has experienced any allergic reactions after taking antibiotics.

Treatment of infections caused by bacteria such as sinus infection, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infection, bone, tooth and joint infections.
Contraindications of Augmentin Dds Suspension 30ml
- If your child is allergic to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid or any of the ingredients of this medicine.
- If your child has a history of severe allergic reactions to any other antibiotic like cephalosporins, monobactam, carbapenem.
- If your child had liver problems & jaundice with this medicine before.

Mode of Action of Augmentin Dds Suspension 30ml
How Does It Work?
Augmentin DDS suspension contains amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin works by killing the bacteria responsible for infections. However, the bacteria make the enzyme (beta-lactamases) which can destroy Amoxicillin. Clavulanic acid inactivates this enzyme and hence helps Amoxicillin to perform its function....
Directions for Use of Augmentin Dds Suspension 30ml
- Take this medicine as directed by your doctor.
- Read the label carefully before using this medication.
- For reconstitution:
- Boil and cool the water.
- Add the water slightly below the mark on the bottle.
- Shake it well and make the volume up to the given mark on the bottle.
- A reconstituted solution should be used within the duration mentioned on the bottle.

Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use of Augmentin DDS suspension with blood thinners such as warfarin, acenocoumarol increases the risk of bleeding when taken it is advised to regularly monitor the blood tests like PT-INR....
- The risk of side effects increases when Augmentin DDS suspension taken with methotrexate which is used in the treatment of cancer.
- Medicines used to treat gout like allopurinol or probenecid and medicines used to modify immune response during an organ transplant like mycophenolate mofetil should be used cautiously with this medicine....

Missed a Dose
It is advised not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it can result in failure of the therapy. If you have missed taking any dose of this medicine take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one....
