Medical Description
Asthakind-DX Syrup Sugar-Free is a combination medication used to alleviate dry coughs and allergy symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, and throat irritation. It also relieves nasal congestion or stuffiness. This syrup contains three active ingredients: chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine. Asthakind DX is effective in reducing allergy symptoms like cough and nasal congestion.
The syrup can be taken with or without food, as directed by your doctor. The right dose will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medication. For effective treatment, it's important to continue taking this medication for the duration recommended by your doctor.
Tusq DX syrup, Zedex Plus syrup and Kep D syrup also contain a combination of chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine.
According to the advisory issued by the Union Health Ministry, cough and cold medications should not be prescribed or dispensed to children under two years of age. Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Asthakind-DX SF Syrup combines cough suppression, antihistamine, and decongestant effects to relieve cold and allergy symptoms like dry cough, runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, and nasal congestion.
- Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that acts on a specific part of the cough centre or brain and reduces the cough.
- Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant. It works by constricting the blood vessels in the nasal passage, reducing the swelling and thereby relieving nasal congestion or blockage.
- Chlorpheniramine is an anti-allergic agent that helps relieve allergy symptoms. It works by blocking the release of the specific natural substance histamine, which is responsible for allergic symptoms. Histamine is produced when the body detects any foreign substance.
