Ascoril D Plus Syrup Sugar-Free is commonly used to alleviate common cold symptoms, such as a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, watery eyes, nasal congestion, and cough. It contains a combination of dextromethorphan, chlorpheniramine, and phenylephrine as active ingredients.
Ascoril D Plus Syrup can be taken with or without food, as advised by your doctor. The prescribed dosage depends on your specific condition and how you respond to treatment. It's essential to adhere to the prescribed course and not discontinue the medication prematurely, as doing so may lead to a recurrence of symptoms or a worsening of your condition.
Common side effects include headaches, drowsiness, double vision, vomiting, diarrhoea, dry mouth, and nausea. These are mild and will improve, but consult your doctor if they persist or worsen.
Ascoril D Plus Syrup may cause drowsiness; therefore, avoid activities that require full concentration, such as driving. It's crucial not to self-medicate or share your medication with others. Staying hydrated while on this medication is beneficial.

- If you have diabetes, increased pressure inside the eyes (glaucoma).
- If you are suffering from an overactive thyroid gland and breathing problems like bronchitis.
- If you experience difficulty in urination due to an enlarged prostate gland.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Medicines used to treat brain disorders or psychiatric illnesses should not be used with Ascoril D Plus as it can lead to a risk of heart-related side effects or increased blood pressure.
- Ascoril D Plus can reduce the effectiveness of high blood pressure medicines and can increase blood pressure abruptly.
- Ascoril D Plus should not be taken along with medicines used to treat heart failures, such as digoxin, as it can increase the risk of irregular heartbeat or heart attack.
- Phenytoin and ergot-containing medicines should not be consumed along with Ascoril D Plus as it can lead to toxicity.
- Other medicines like medicines to induce sleep or anti-anxiety medicines and certain painkillers should be used as they can induce sedation.
