Contraindications
- If you’ve liver or heart diseases.
- If you have shown allergic reactions to it in the past.
- If you’re taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors like Phenelzine, Tranylcypromine, Selegiline, etc. The combination of both medicines can cause convulsions, high fever and can be fatal.
- If you’ve acute angle-closure glaucoma should not take Amitop Tablets as it may precipitate an attack.
- Older people with complaints of urinary difficulties should not take this medicine.

How Does It Work?
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Anticholinergic medicines (such as benztropine, belladonna alkaloids) increase urinary complaints and can increase the chances of dryness of the mouth.
- MAO inhibitors (isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) should not be combined with this medicine. The combination can cause severe side effects like diarrhoea and palpitations, and even death.
- Antacids (Cimetidine) can increase the serum concentration of the medicine.
- Antidepressants (paroxetine, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine) can increase the side effects of Amitop tablets, like drowsiness and tremors.
- Antiarrhythmic medicines (quinidine, propafenone, flecainide) can increase the chances of palpitations.
- Antihistamines (cetirizine, diphenhydramine) can cause impairment in judgement and dizziness.
- Analgesics (codeine) can increase sleepiness and cause changes in consciousness.
- Anti Anxiety medicines (alprazolam, diazepam, zolpidem) can increase the chances of drowsiness.
- Anticoagulants (aspirin, clopidogrel) increase the chances of bleeding.

- There is no known interaction between food and Amitop Tablets.
