Medical Description
Ambropil Br Sugar-Free syrup is used to treat cough associated with infections in the airways, bronchial asthma, shortness of breath, and lung infections. The wet cough is usually accompanied by chest tightness, spasms, mucous build-up, wheezing, and difficulty in expelling out the cough. It contains a combination of ambroxol, bromhexine, terbutaline, guaiphenesin/guaifenesin, and cetirizine as active substances. This medicine helps in the expulsion of mucous and reduces cough and breathlessness. It also helps to loosen the phlegm and mucous from the respiratory pathway and makes it easier to cough out. Ambropil Br Sugar-Free syrup should be used cautiously if you have liver or kidney-related problems. Also, discuss it with your doctor if you have any other underlying medical conditions before starting the treatment. It is advisable to consult a physician before giving this medicine to children below 6 years. Ambropil Br Sugar-Free syrup should not be given with any other cough or cold medicines. Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Ambropil Br Sugar-Free syrup contains ambroxol, bromhexine, terbutaline, guaiphenesin/guaifenesin, and cetirizine as its active ingredient.
- Ambroxol acts as a mucolytic agent. It works by loosening/thinning up the mucous in the respiratory passages and makes the mucous less sticky. Thereby helping in removing the cough out.
- Bromhexine helps in reducing the mucous by boosting the production of phlegm in the respiratory tract and aids to make the mucus thinner and less sticky. Therefore, it makes the expulsion of cough easier.
- Terbutaline has bronchodilator properties. It relaxes the muscles of the airways and inhibits the release of inflammation-causing chemical substances. Thereby, it improves airflow to the lungs and helps make breathing easier.
- Guaifenesin is an expectorant; it helps thin the mucous in the airways and makes it easier to cough out and clear the airways.
- Cetirizine inhibits the allergic symptoms produced by histamines (a certain chemical substance that is released by the body).
