Interactions with other medicines
- Alex Sugar Free Cough lozenges can cause serious complications when given concomitantly or even within 14 days of last administration of some medicines used to treat psychotic disorders eg. phenelzine, selegiline, procarbazine (MAO inhibitors) or SSRI's (eg. escitalopram, paroxetine, sertraline, etc.)
- Medicines acting on the brain can alter the effect of Alex Sugar Free Cough lozenges.
- Some anti-allergic medicines and medicines for mental illness should be used with caution.
- The use of quinidine, a medicine used for the treatment of irregular heart rhythm can increase the effect of this medicine. Hence, concomitant use should be avoided. In case the use is unavoidable the patient should be closely monitored during the treatment.
