Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Rifampicin, Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide, and Ethambutol are all anti-tuberculosis medications found together in AKT 4 kit tablets. Isoniazid works by preventing TB bacteria (Mycobacterium Tuberculosis) from creating a protective covering. Rifampicin works by inactivating an enzyme RNA-polymerase that TB bacteria needs to reproduce. Ethambutol and Pyrazinamide work by reducing the growth of these bacteria by inhibiting the bacteria's proliferation. Altogether they kill the bacteria and eliminate the infection as a whole.
