Acord Plus 50/50/12.5 Mg Tablet 14
Description
Acord tablet is a combination medicine containing losartan, atenolol, and hydrochlorothiazide, used for the treatment of high blood pressure and certain heart-related conditions. By controlling blood pressure effectively, it helps reduce the risk of complications such as heart attack, stroke, and kidney damage. This combination may also be prescribed for managing chest pain (angina) and irregular heartbeats, as advised by your doctor. Along with taking this medicine, maintaining a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, reduced salt intake, and regular physical activity is important for better blood pressure control.
Acord tablet works through the combined action of its three components. Losartan blocks the effects of angiotensin II, a substance that causes blood vessels to narrow, thereby helping them relax and improving blood flow. Atenolol slows down the heart rate and reduces the force with which the heart pumps blood, lowering blood pressure and reducing strain on the heart. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps the body remove excess salt and water through urine, further lowering blood pressure.
Take Acord tablet exactly as advised by your doctor. Swallow whole with sufficient amount of water, with or without food. Try to take it at the same time every day for effective blood pressure control. Do not chew, crush, or break and do not take more than the prescribed dose. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this may worsen your condition.
Some people may experience side effects while taking Acord tablet, such as dizziness, tiredness, headache, nausea, or low blood pressure, especially at the beginning of treatment. Increased urination, electrolyte imbalance, or changes in potassium levels may also occur due to the diuretic component. If you experience severe dizziness, fainting, allergic reactions, or any persistent or bothersome side effects, consult your doctor promptly.
