Fluorometholone is a steroid which is used to control inflammation of eyes as in eye swelling and redness caused by injury, infections, surgery, etc.
Uses
It is used to treat eye swelling, in cases of eye injury eye infections.
Contraindications
When should one not use Fluorometholone
- If you have allergy to Fluorometholone or other components of this medicine
- If you are suffering from viral and severe other eye infections

- Due to prolonged use of this medicine, you may feel an increase in pressure inside your eye (intraocular pressure), which could lead to glaucoma, rare damage to the optic nerve, lack of clearness of vision, cataracts, delay in wound healing or the development of an eye infection
- You have or have been previously treated for herpes simplex, use this medicine only under the close supervision of your doctor
- You experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances
Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Fluorometholone prevents the release of certain chemicals called prostaglandins and leukotrienes which cause inflammation and swelling.
