How Does It Work?
Zolpinite 10 mg tablet has Zolpidem as the main ingredient. Zolpidem belongs to a type of medication known as Sedative Hypnotics. It works by slowing brain activity, thus having a calming effect. It reduces the sleep onset time and improves the quality of sleep. Therefore, it helps patients with insomnia when one cannot fall asleep or frequently wakes up in the middle of the night....
Directions for Use
- Take Zolpinite tablet as per doctor’s recommendation. It is generally prescribed for a shorter duration, around 7-14 days.
- Take Zolpinite tablets with or without food. It should not be taken with a high-fat diet as it can decrease the absorption of Zolpinite, therefore decreasing its efficacy.
- Take Zolpinite tablets as per the proper routine and timings of taking medicine. It is usually taken half an hour before sleeping time.
- Usually, a 10 mg dose is recommended in men and 5 mg in women.
- Do not take a Zolpinite tablet without consulting the doctor.
- Consume the medicine orally with water. Zolpinite tablets should not be manipulated in any way by either crushing or breaking them.
- Avoid the consumption of alcohol and caffeinated beverages while taking Zolpinite tablets.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Zolpinite tablets interact with Ketoconazole (antifungal) and Erythromycin (antibiotic), which can reduce the metabolism of Zolpidem.
- Rifampicin (antibiotic) can reduce the efficacy of Zolpidem.
- Codeine (given in cough), Clonazepam (given in seizures) can increase the depressive action on the nervous system.
- Acetaminophen (painkiller ) can increase the metabolism of Zolpidem.
- Chlorpromazine (antipsychotic) can increase the risk of severity of side effects.
Interactions with food items
- Zolpinite is not known to interact with any particular food item.
Storage and disposal
Store Zolpinite tablets away from direct sources of heat and light. The tablets should not be kept under direct sunlight.
Store Zolpinite tablets at room temperature and do not need to be kept in a fridge. Please keep the tablets away from children and pets, if any, at home.
Please avoid draining or flushing unused medicines. Try to locate a medicine take-back programme to dispose of the tablets correctly....
Dosage
Overdose
Overdose can lead to serious side effects like troubled breathing, inability to wake up, coma etc. Take the person to the hospital immediately.
Flumazenil has been helpful in the case of overdose.
Please abide by the prescribed dose and do not share Zolpidem with someone having similar symptoms. It can lead to overdose....
Missed a Dose
If you missed a dose, take the next Zolpinite tablet as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost the time for the next dose, consider skipping the missed one. Do not take the medicine in the morning as it will induce sleep. It would be best if you only took Zolpinite when you can sleep in continuity for 7-8 hours.
Never double the dose; it can lead to severe side effects.
