Medical Description

Vodacof tablet is used to treat & manage respiratory tract infections associated with symptoms like common cold like wet cough, fever, headache, sneezing, a runny nose, etc. It is a combination medicine containing paracetamol, chlorpheniramine, phenylephrine, guaifenesin and bromhexine. Paracetamol belongs to the class of medicines called analgesics and antipyretics, Chlorpheniramine maleate belongs to the class of medicines called antihistamines, Phenylephrine is a vasoconstrictor, Guaifenesin is an expectorant and Bromhexine belongs to the class of medicines called mucolytics. Vodacof tablet should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. Before using this medicine, inform the doctor about your detailed medical history.

Uses

Vodacof tablet is used for the treatment of respiratory tract infection associated with symptoms of wet/productive cough, body aches, fever and cold.

Missed a Dose

If you have missed taking any dose of the Vodacof tablet, take the missed dose as soon as possible. Never take two doses to compensate for the missed dose.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

  • Paracetamol works by inhibiting the release of certain chemicals responsible for pain and increased body temperature in the body.
  • Guaifenesin works by thinning the phlegm/mucous in the throat. Thus, relieving symptoms of cough.
  • Bromhexine works by reducing the thickness of mucous and enabling it to be expulsed out by cough.
  • Phenylephrine shrinks or constricts the blood vessels in the nasal passage and improves congestion.
  • Chlorpheniramine maleate controls the symptoms of allergy or cold-like itchiness, runny nose, sneezing by blocking the release of certain chemicals (histamines) within the body.
