Interactions with other medicines

  • Administering ursodiol with bile acid sequestering agents such as cholestyramine and colestipol may interfere with the action of ursodiol by reducing its absorption
  • Administering ursodiol with aluminum-based antacids have been shown to reduce the absorption of Usibon tablet
  • Giving ursodiol with estrogens, oral contraceptives, and clofibrate (and other lipid-lowering medicines) increases encourages cholesterol gallstone formation and may counteract the action of ursodiol
