Tricycle tablet is a combined hormonal contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy and, when prescribed, help make periods more predictable and less painful or heavy. It contains ethinylestradiol, an oestrogen, and levonorgestrel, a progestogen. Together they prevent ovulation, thicken mucus at the cervix and make the womb lining less suitable for pregnancy. The tablet is taken by mouth and must be used exactly as prescribed. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
