Medical Description
Tramazac injection is a prescription medicine used for treating moderate to severe pain. It comprises tramadol as its active component. Tramadol belongs to the class of opioid analgesics or narcotic pain relievers. It can be used to address localised or general pain. It is a medicine given for relieving chronic, persistent, and moderate to severe pain.
Pain occurs when several chemical substances in the body are released due to an injury. These chemical substances cause the brain to send signals to the body part with the injury to notify that something is wrong. Tramazac injection helps block these brain signals from reaching the site of injury. Some of the other uses of Tramazac injection include reducing discomfort due to pain to rest better.
It is considered a safe medication for pain when taken in the prescribed dosage. Some people can experience withdrawal effects with this medication after long-term use. This medicine has the risks of dependency, abuse and addiction. Though there are some potential side effects of Tramazac injection, it's rare to have an allergic reaction to this medicine.
Consult your doctor first before taking this medication. It is mostly prescribed for an individual in chronic or intense pain. Do not try to use this injection continuously for a long term without consulting a doctor.
Uses
- According to CDSCO, Tramazac injection can be used in the management of moderate to severe pain.
- It is also used to manage severe, acute, and chronic pain, surgical pain, and short-term management of acute pain.
Contraindications
- Do not use Tramazac injection without consulting a doctor if you have the following conditions:
- If you have an allergic reaction to any component of Tramazac injection.
- If you are already using similar or different opioid pain relievers, sleeping pills, antidepressants, or antipsychotic medications.
- If you have liver failure or other conditions that affect the liver’s functioning, Tramazac injection increases the risk of adverse reactions.
- If you have stomach and intestinal bleeding or perforation.
- If you have intestinal obstructions, like paralytic ileus. Tramazac injection worsens the condition.
- If you are suffering from breathing issues like asthma and other lung conditions.
- Your body has been in shock, and sufficient blood is not being pumped to all body parts.
- Not for children below 17 years of age, as this injection contains tramadol, an opioid that is contraindicated in children.

Directions for Use
- Tramazac injection can be taken before or after consuming food.

- The injection can be given intramuscularly or via slow infusion intravenously (into a vein).
- Wash hands carefully before using this medicine.
- Shake the vial before using it.
- Clean the injection site with rubbing alcohol before injecting.
- Do not take this injection by yourself.
Storage and disposal
Store Tramazac injection in the same container it comes in.
Store the vial at room temperature, away from excess heat and humidity at 20 to 25℃.

Overdose
Tramazac injection overdose can cause stomach pain, lightheadedness, fainting, vomiting, seizures (fits), low blood sugar levels, sweating, cardiac arrest, lethargy, low blood pressure, yellow skin and eyes (liver problems), confusion, and loss of consciousness. In case of Tramazac injection overdose, seek immediate medical treatment from the nearest medical centre.
Missed a Dose
If you are taking this injection at home and have missed a dose of Tramazac injection, you can take it as soon as you remember. But, skip the missed dose if it's already time for the next injection. Do not take two doses of this medication at a time, as it can lead to an overdose. If you are going to a hospital or clinical setting, then try to go for every dose and follow all the instructions given by your doctor. If you have missed a dose, call your doctor and set up a new appointment as soon as possible.

How Does It Work?
Tramazac injection contains tramadol as its main active ingredient. It is an opioid pain reliever. It acts centrally on the nervous system. It works by inhibiting the transmission of pain signals from nerves in the brain to the rest of the body. It blocks the pain pathways in the nervous system by binding certain receptors. It also increases the production of norepinephrine and serotonin, the chemical messengers responsible for reducing pain and inducing a calming effect in the body.
It also mimics the action of endorphins, the chemical substance in the brain and spinal cord that elevates mood and reduces pain.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Do not take the Tramazac injection if you are using other similar opioid pain medications, as they can cause serious adverse effects.
- Do not take Tramazac injection if you are on antidepressants such as linezolid, naltrexone, methylene blue, etc. (MAO inhibitors). They can cause increased side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, tremors, lethargy, vomitings, etc.
- Do not take Tramazac injection with antihistamines (allergy medicines) like cetirizine and diphenhydramine, muscle relaxants, sleeping pills, etc., as they can increase the effect of drowsiness.
Interactions with food items
- Tramazac injection does not have any adverse interactions with food. It can be taken before or after consuming food.
