Medical Description

TAZloC Trio tablet is a combination medicine used to control high blood pressure when more than one medicine is needed. It contains telmisartan, amlodipine and hydrochlorothiazide, a water pill. Telmisartan and amlodipine relax blood vessels, while hydrochlorothiazide helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water in urine. TAZloC Trio tablet is swallowed whole with water, with or without food, and is used regularly as prescribed to reduce long-term risk from uncontrolled blood pressure.

Uses

  • High blood pressure: This combination lowers pressure by relaxing blood vessels and removing extra fluid, helping protect the heart, brain and kidneys from long-term strain.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine, do not use TAZloC Trio tablet. Do not use it during pregnancy, if you cannot pass urine, or with aliskiren when you have diabetes or significant kidney disease. Tell your doctor if you have severe kidney or liver disease, low blood pressure, high potassium or sodium problems, gout, diabetes or narrowing of the blood vessels supplying the kidneys.

Side effects

  • Dizziness: Blood pressure may fall when treatment starts or when you stand up; rise slowly and sit down if you feel faint.

  • Diarrhoea: Blood-pressure treatment may loosen stools; replace fluids as advised and report severe or persistent diarrhoea.
  • Fatigue: Changes in blood pressure or body salts may make you feel unusually tired; tell your doctor if weakness is marked.

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

Do not use TAZloC Trio tablet during pregnancy. Telmisartan can harm the developing baby, so tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or are planning pregnancy.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

TAZloC Trio tablet is not recommended while breastfeeding unless your doctor advises an alternative or close supervision.

Driving

Driving

TAZloC Trio tablet may cause dizziness or faintness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.

Alcohol

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol because it may worsen dizziness and lower blood pressure excessively.

Directions for Use

Take this medicine as a whole with sufficient water, with or without food. Do not crush, break or chew TAZloC Trio tablet. Use it regularly as prescribed. Because hydrochlorothiazide can increase urination, your doctor may advise taking it earlier in the day if it disturbs sleep.

Storage and disposal

Store TAZloC Trio tablet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it in the original pack and out of the reach of children. Dispose of expired tablets safely according to local guidance.

Quick Tips

  • Take TAZloC Trio tablet regularly even when you feel well, unless your doctor changes the treatment.
  • Rise slowly from sitting or lying down to reduce dizziness.
  • Drink fluids as advised, especially in hot weather, but follow any fluid restriction.
  • Check your blood pressure as recommended and keep a record for your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor before using anti-inflammatory pain relievers, potassium supplements or salt substitutes.

Dosage

Overdose

Overdose may cause severe dizziness, fainting, dehydration, fast or slow heartbeat or marked weakness. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Telmisartan blocks the action of a body chemical that tightens blood vessels, allowing them to relax. Amlodipine relaxes the muscles in blood vessel walls and improves blood flow. Hydrochlorothiazide helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water in urine, reducing fluid pressure in the circulation.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way TAZloC Trio tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, mention other blood-pressure medicines, aliskiren, potassium supplements or salt substitutes, lithium, anti-inflammatory pain relievers, water tablets, medicines for diabetes and medicines that affect heart rhythm. These combinations may cause excessively low blood pressure, change potassium or other body salts, raise lithium levels, reduce the blood-pressure effect or increase kidney risk.

Interactions with food items

Avoid potassium-containing salt substitutes unless your doctor approves them. Do not make major changes to your salt intake without medical advice.
