Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Do not use Splint Asp during pregnancy unless a doctor specifically advises it, because aceclofenac is particularly unsuitable later in pregnancy.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Paracetamol and aceclofenac can pass into breast milk, and information on serratiopeptidase is limited, so use it only when your doctor advises.

Driving

Driving

Dizziness or drowsiness may occur. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how Splint Asp tablet affects you.

Alcohol

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol because it may increase stomach irritation, dizziness and serious paracetamol-related liver problems.

Directions for Use

Take this medicine as a whole with sufficient water. Take Splint Asp tablet with food or immediately after a meal to reduce stomach irritation. Do not chew, crush or break it. Do not combine it with another paracetamol or anti-inflammatory pain reliever unless your doctor approves.

Storage and disposal

Store Splint Asp tablet in its original pack in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep it out of children's reach. Do not use damaged or expired tablets. Return unused medicine to a pharmacist for safe disposal.

Quick Tips

  • Take the tablet with food to reduce stomach irritation.
  • Do not combine it with another paracetamol or anti-inflammatory pain reliever without advice.
  • Avoid alcohol during treatment.
  • Stay adequately hydrated unless your doctor has restricted fluids.
  • Seek urgent help for black stools, vomiting blood or severe stomach pain.
  • Seek care for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or unusual bruising.

Dosage

Overdose

Too much may cause severe nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, drowsiness, bleeding or serious paracetamol-related liver problems. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Aceclofenac reduces the body's production of substances that cause pain, swelling and inflammation. Paracetamol acts mainly in the central nervous system to reduce pain and fever. Serratiopeptidase is an enzyme that may break down proteins associated with inflamed tissue and help reduce swelling. Together, the ingredients target pain and inflammation through different actions.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Splint Asp tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, tell your doctor about blood thinners such as warfarin or apixaban, aspirin, other anti-inflammatory pain medicines, corticosteroids, medicines for high blood pressure, water tablets, lithium, methotrexate, ciclosporin and other products containing paracetamol. Blood thinners, aspirin, corticosteroids and similar pain medicines can increase bleeding or ulcer risk. Some blood-pressure medicines and water tablets can increase kidney strain or have a weaker effect. Methotrexate and lithium levels may rise, while another paracetamol product can increase the risk of overdose.

Interactions with food items

Taking Splint Asp tablet with or after food may reduce stomach irritation. Avoid excessive alcohol because it can worsen stomach irritation and increase the risk of paracetamol-related harm.
