Sodamint 300 MG Description

Sodamint is an antacid. The active ingredient in it is sodium bicarbonate. It is used in cases of Cardiac Arrhythmias and Acidosis (increased acid production in the body). Its main action is to alkal

inise the body by neutralising hydrogen ions. When the acid produced in the stomach increases, symptoms such as heartburn are common, Sodamint helps neutralise the effects of this acid and gives quick relief. It is also given systemically if the blood pH drops too low, a condition known as Acidosis. Overdose of this tablet can have dangerous side effects. One should only use it in the prescribed dose. When prescribed in larger doses, regular monitoring is needed. If there is no relief after taking the medication, a physician's opinion is required to plan further treatment. It is not meant for chronic use. This drug is not safe during pregnancy or lactation. One must avoid consuming alcohol while on this drug. Always inform the doctor about any other medications (tablets or herbal) that you are on to ensure no interactions. This tablet is not recommended to those who are on a salt-restricted diet.

If you have underlying metabolic or systemic alkalosis.

If you have had liver failure.
If you have had kidney failure.
If you have had congestive heart failure.
If you have hypertension.
If you have Dyspnea.
If you have the issue of fluid retention (such as swelling of hands and feet).

Pregnancy

Can I take Sodamint during pregnancy?

There is inadequate documentation regarding the effects of Sodamint on the foetus during pregnancy. Let your doctor assess the risk of taking the tablet. This tablet is to be taken only under the guidance of a doctor.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Sodamint while breastfeeding?

There is inadequate data regarding the passing of Sodamint into the breastmilk. Do not take it unless it has been prescribed by your doctor.

Driving

Can I drive if I have taken Sodamint?

If it is the first time you are taking Sodamint, driving or using heavy machinery is not advisable. It might result in bloating and discomfort. It can even cause dizziness or hypotension (low blood pressure). In case you have experienced any adverse effects previously, do not drive after consuming this medication.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with the Sodamint?

It is recommended that alcohol consumption e avoided as it can cause increased drowsiness

Directions for Use of Sodamint 300 MG

The tablet has to be entirely dissolved in water before consumption.
Take the tablet in the dose and frequency prescribed.
Sodamint must be consumed on an empty stomach or one to two hours after a meal. It should not be taken on a full stomach.
This tablet is meant for short-term use and temporary relief. Do not consume for a long period without consulting a doctor.
In case of any adverse effects, seek immediate medical attention.
Do not regularly consume for over two weeks as self-medication.
