Medical Description

Sizodon Md 2 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of schizophrenia, a mental condition that causes hallucinations or delusions and impairs a person's ability to think and behave. Sizodon Md 2 mg Tablet aids in the restoration of chemical imbalances in the brain that cause such alterations. Risperdon is the active ingredient of Sizodon Md 2 mg Tabs. Sizodon Md 2 mg Tablets are also used in the treatment of manic disorder, bipolar disorder, and short-term treatment of conduct disorder. Mania is an extremely happy or enthusiastic state of mind. Sizodon Md 2 mg Tablets help calm the mind and soothe the nerves. The side effects of the Sizodon Md 2mg tablet include insomnia, sleepiness, somnolence, parkinsonism, and headache. It is important not to discontinue taking Sizodon Md 2 mg Tablets without first visiting the doctor, as doing so may exacerbate your symptoms. Stop using Sizodon Tabs immediately if you develop Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS), like fever, muscle rigidity, altered awareness, or seizures. Sizodon Tabs might produce a rapid drop in blood pressure, so if you've been sitting or lying down, it's better to get up slowly. It may also make you dizzy or sleepy, so don't drive or do anything else that requires mental focus until you've had a chance to observe how this prescription affects you. Report any unusual changes in mood or behaviour, new or worsening depression, or suicidal thoughts to your doctor while using this medication.

Missed a Dose

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Sizodon Md 2 mg tablet is an antipsychotic that differs from the rest. It alters the number of chemical messengers in the brain (dopamine and serotonin) that enhances mood, thoughts, and behaviour. It works by blocking the activity of dopaminergic D2 and serotonergic 5-HT2A receptors. This results in a reduction in dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission. As a result, it alleviates the symptoms of schizophrenia (such as delusions and hallucinations), mania or aggression. It also keeps the symptoms from coming back.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • When used with risperidone(active ingredient of Sizodon Md), Tramadol (narcotic group) may increase the risk of seizures.
  • Sizodon Md 2mg tablets may counteract the effects of CNS medications like levodopa.
  • Risperidone serum concentrations are reduced by anticonvulsants like carbamazepine.
  • Risperidone clearance in the liver is reduced by clozapine and other antipsychotics.
  • Drowsiness, dry mouth, flushing, and memory problems may develop when risperidone is used with dextromethorphan (antitussive) and doxylamine (antihistamines).
  • Adverse effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, and difficulty concentrating may occur when risperidone is used with analgesics like Vicodin, acetaminophen and hydrocodone.
