Medical Description
Sinarest syrup is a cough and cold medication. It contains a combination of paracetamol, chlorpheniramine, phenylephrine and sodium citrate as active substances. Sinarest Syrup is used in the treatment of symptoms of the common cold in children aged 2 to 12 years. Give this medicine to your child exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Before starting Sinarest syrup, inform your doctor about your child's complete medical history. Taking more than the daily dose of Sinarest syrup may cause serious liver damage or allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, mouth and throat, difficulty in breathing, itching and rashes.

Contraindications of SINAREST BOTTLE OF 75ML SYRUP
- If your child is allergic to paracetamol, phenylephrine, chlorpheniramine, sodium citrate or any other ingredients of Sinarest syrup.
- If your child is taking medicines called MAO inhibitors. If you are not sure what these medicines are, please confirm with your doctor.
- If your child has severe high blood pressure.
- If your child has liver or kidney disorders.
- If your child has increased pressure in the eyes (closed-angle glaucoma).

Other General Warnings
- If your child has thyroid disorders, heart disease, high blood pressure or deposits of fat/cholesterol in the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart.
- If your child has lung disorders like asthma, bronchitis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD).
- If your child has difficulty urinating due to blockage in the bladder or neck.
- If your child has a blockage in the digestive tract.
- If your child has increased pressure in the eyes (glaucoma) or diabetes.
- If your child has kidney or liver disorders.
- If your child is malnutrition.
- If your child is taking medicines that slow down the central nervous system.
- If your child has low fluid volume due to severe vomiting/diarrhoea, excessive heat exposure or less than normal fluid intake.
- If your child develops redness of the skin, blisters and rash after taking this medicine.
- If your child has a condition called Raynaud's phenomenon.
- If your child has an enlarged prostate.
- If your child experiences fit/seizures.
- If your child is taking other medicines for cold and cough or other medicines containing paracetamol.
Directions for Use of SINAREST BOTTLE OF 75ML SYRUP
- Give the exact amount of Sinarest syrup to your child as recommended by the doctor.
- Shake well before use.
- Use a measuring cup, spoon or dropper for the exact quantity.
- Do not consume it directly from the bottle.
- Do not take more than the prescribed dose.

Overdose
Missed a Dose
- If you missed giving any dose of Sinarest syrup to your child, give it as soon as you remember.
- If it's time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule.
- Do not give a double dose to compensate for the missed one
Mode of Action of SINAREST BOTTLE OF 75ML SYRUP
How Does It Work?
- Sinarest syrup contains a combination of paracetamol, chlorpheniramine, phenylephrine and sodium citrate as active substances.
- Paracetamol is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID) that blocks the action of a chemical called cyclooxygenase. Cyclooxygenase is responsible for the formation of certain substances in the body called prostaglandins that cause fever, pain and inflammation....
- Chlorpheniramine is an anti-allergic medicine that blocks certain proteins in the body that are responsible for causing itching, headache, redness of the skin, low blood pressure and pain.
- Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant. It works by reducing the swelling of blood vessels of nasal passage by constricting the blood vessels and thereby relieving nasal congestion or blockage.
- Sodium citrate liquifies the mucous and helps in its expulsion thereby clearing congestion.

Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Sinarest syrup works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Inform your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals your child is currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Particular care should be taken if your child is taking medicines for treating blood clots (warfarin), heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux disease (metoclopramide), ulcers (propantheline), depression (amitriptyline), pain (fentanyl), gout (probenecid), abnormal/high cholesterol (cholestyramine) and Parkinson's disease/depression (MAO inhibitors)....
- The risk of toxicity may be increased when Sinarest syrup is given with other medicines that may damage the liver or with medicines used for the management of fits/seizures.
