Rifaximin 400 MG Description

Rifaximin 400 mg tablet is a prescription medicine used for traveller's diarrhoea, hepatic encephalopathy, and diarrhoea in irritable bowel syndrome. Its active ingredient is rifaximin, which is an a

ntibiotic. This medicine works by inhibiting the protein synthesis of bacteria and killing them. Hepatic encephalopathy is a condition that occurs as a result of severe liver diseases like hepatitis or cirrhosis. It causes a decline in brain function and results in symptoms like agitation, confusion, etc. Rifaximin tablets help in reducing infections and relieving these symptoms. This medicine also helps reduce diarrhoea in conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and travellers’ diarrhoea caused by “E. coli” (bacteria). This antibiotic can be used alone or in combination with other medications to treat the infection. This medicine can cause a change in the colour of urine. This medicine can also cause blockage in the intestines. Its dose should be monitored in children and patients with liver disease.
